Simon
graduated in biology/biochemistry at the Groningen University and was
since then involved in veterinary virology, production and application
of vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease. He worked for many years at
the Central Veterinary Institute in Lelystad (ID-Lelystad) as head of
department and as head of the Community Coordinating Institute for the
EU. At the moment he is an international consultant on veterinary vaccines.
Simon participated in many international missions to report and advise on the control of FMD outbreaks. He wrote many papers in international scientific journals on vaccine production. A number of them are review papers. simbar@scarlet.nl |

Klaas Johan graduated at Wageningen University. He was a Research Worker at regional farms for applied research in the Netherlands. Presently, he is Policy Advisor with the Dutch Farmers' Union LTO Nederland. Dr. Paul worked at the Panamerican FMD Center (PANAFTOSA) in Rio de Janeiro as a Field Officer and as Chief of Laboratories. He also was a researcher at the Plum Island Animals Disease (PIADC) in Greenport, New York, USA. He was involved in many aspects of the control and eradication of FMD in Latin America as well as the prevention of MD in Central America and the Caribbean. Resie graduated in veterinary medicine from the State University of Utrecht with post academic courses on dairy cattle nutrition, dairy farm economics , bacteriologic research of milk, and others. She participated in workshops and conferences on tropical animal diseases, herd health management dairy cattle, pig husbandry, contagious diseases with important socio-economic impact, epidemiology, microbiology, zoönoses, food safety etc. Resie carried out research in Costa Rica on calf diarrhea and is currently employed as a course coordinator on the Larenstein University of professional education with a focus on animal health, welfare and husbandry. resieook@gmail.com |
